Welcome to Wikispaces Grade 3 teachers! This is a beginning point as we collaborate on developing and sharing our classroom ideas, resources, assessments, curriculum supports, and so much more! Think of it as "one your stop shopping" store where all the best ideas can be found! Any teacher who is interested in adding to our page must first have a wikispaces account (it is free!). Then you can choose, Join this Wiki, option. An email will be sent to the wiki "manager" (one of the coaches), who will give you permission to become a member. Members can then add their own material to share.

I used this guided listening assessment with my Grade 3 class. The text was "Treasures of the Deep" from Collections. I set the purpose for listening, then stopped the CD to allow students a chance to respond to the prompts. Created by Amber Thompson, Outlook Elementary, 2010.
This is a viewing and representing assessment that I used with my Grade 3 class. I prepared a SmartBoard resource that presented images connected to the Treasures of the Deep audio text. Students were guided through prompts as they viewed the images. The last page presents a representing activity. Created by Amber Thompson, Outlook Elementary, 2010.
This sample self-assessment listening template offers students a chance to reflect on their own listening skills. Originally developed for a Grade 5 classroom, this template can be modified to suit your class. You can add or remove indicators as needed. Created by Jade Ballek, 2010.
This unit was shared by Dawne Toner at Springwater Colony. Dawne's notes: "I developed this last year and modified to fit my Grade 1-3 classes. You can adapt any way you like as I divided it into chapters. I did one at the beginning of the year and used the other chapters later on. The students liked the idea of drawing their own pictures in the areas I provided for them."
